Pittsburgh Print Group Announces a Three-Part Exhibition Series Exploring Consumption, Entanglement, and Impression

PITTSBURGH, PA — August 17, 2026 — Pittsburgh Print Group, in collaboration with Artists Image Resource, Brew House Arts, and Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media, is pleased to announce Notes on Prints and Printmaking, a three-part exhibition guest curated by Hannah Turpin and Michaela Blanc. Featuring work by contemporary Pittsburgh Print Group member artists who work within and expand on traditional and inventive printmaking practices, the series will unfold across three Pittsburgh venues over the course of different seasons: Fall and Winter 2026, and Spring 2027. Notes on Prints and Printmaking contemplates how its participants relate to our collective contemporary moment and respond through their personal, lived experiences. Each exhibition moves through a condition of relational experience — consumption, entanglement, impression — inviting audiences to consider these ideas not only as isolated themes but as parts of an interrelated, evolving inquiry. 

Notes on Prints and Printmaking features an intergenerational group of 19 artists based across the region reaching from Cincinnati to Philadelphia, representing a range of backgrounds, artistic training, styles, and interests. Each exhibition also welcomes guest artists associated with its host venue — from artists featured in the venue's archives to past artists-in-residence — creating a dialogue between Pittsburgh Print Group members and each venue's own history and community.

"Most objects in the exhibitions are dealing with very personal and private narratives, revealing how one’s inner world experienced through memory, nature, the body, trauma, relationships is emulated in the imprint of the printmaking process,” said exhibition series co-curator Hannah Turpin. "Each exhibition stands on its own, but together they ask how consumption, entanglement, and impression are really three stages of the same ongoing exchange between people, objects, and place," said Michaela Blanc. 

The series title Notes on Prints and Printmaking references a founding Pittsburgh Print Group document of the same name, dating back to 1973. The first show opens this fall with Consumption at Artists Image Resource in the North Side and continues through spring 2027 with Entanglement at Brew House Arts in the South Side and Impression at the Pittsburgh Center of Arts & Media in East End’s Shadyside.
