Mary Martin’s work, at its core, has been investigating issues of identity, social justice, and equity for years now. The multiple audiences with whom Ms. Martin engages include numerous Muslim and Black communities and organizations. Mary is a member of Women of Visions, the Yan Taru Muslim Women’s Educational and Charitable organization and has worked with the August Wilson Center, The Andy Warhol Museum, and the Council on American-Islamic Relations

The prints shown below are 22” x 30” screenprints printed as part of a suite of 4 prints in 2002. Ms. Martin was an AIR Resident Project Artist in 2002 and created this suite of 4 prints along with a number of other works.

(Each image was printed in a edition of 10 and AIR retained 5 of each, prints are for sale). Printers included Ian Short, Robert Beckman, Heather White, Matthew Forrest and others

Her artwork has been exhibited in art galleries and cultural institutions in Arizona, California, Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. Her artwork includes ceramic, collage, printmaking, metal, and glass mediums. Locally, she is a member of Women of Visions, Inc., a Pittsburgh based arts collective of African American women visual artists. She is also an active member of the Yan Taru Muslim Women’s Educational and Charitable organization, Muslim Women’s Association of Pittsburgh. She has also served on the Board of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Pittsburgh Chapter (CAIR Pgh).
